U.S. Navy spots a UFO heading toward Puerto Rico in 1964

On November 20, 1964, the USS Gyatt was stationed in the Atlantic about 220 miles (354 kilometers) northwest of Puerto Rico, when its radar detected a bogey approaching the island from the northeast at speeds exceeding Mach 1. The USS Gyatt relayed a message to Roosevelt Roads Navy Base in Puerto Rico, which then contacted an F-8 Crusader aircraft of Utility Squadron Eight.

This aircraft was already flying at an altitude of 30,000 ft. over Puerto Rico. The aircraft reported a stranger closing in very fast. The pilot of the F-8C described the object as delta shaped and about the size of a fighter jet. Its color was black or gray and had no lights. It had no contrail but had a light source emitting from the tail during periods of acceleration. The pilot pursued the bogey but could not intercept it. The target accelerated out of sight in a wide starboard turn climbing through 50,000 feet at about 18°-20° angle of climb in excess of Mach 1...

The Executive Officer of the Utility Squadron did not have a reasonable explanation for this target because the speed, acceleration, ceiling and ability to decelerate exceeded any aircraft that he ever seen or heard of. Nevertheless, he evaluated the target as a very high performance aircraft because it maneuvered as an aircraft and performed no unusual maneuvers except extreme acceleration and deceleration, plus a very steep climb angle in excess of 50,000 at high speed.

Well..it was one of two things based on all the evidence released on this incident which was extensive. A. UFO B. Unidentified flying aircraft C. Answer A&B

Project blue book determined it was not a UFO but instead an unidentified flying aircraft hence choosing to use aircraft instead of object in its description. That was a very interesting way of classifying the unknown visual and radar contact. Lt.CMDR Kyle Harry Woodbury was the pilot and executive officer who chased this object and observed the Delta shape craft. It was determined by project blue book and the Navy that there was no drone or YF12A aircraft flying in the area that night to account for a Delta shaped craft. Could it have been an unknown Russian spy plane? Possibly but highly unlikely. Prior to this night an unidentified high speed object had flown over the area the previous three nights and again on the 25th Nov 1964. These were tracked by the weapons range in Puerto Rico hence I suspect that is why they brought the USS Gyatt out there as a defensive measure.

Lajas

Although there have been many unexplained sightings in the town of Lajas, the situation there has been hyped by the amount of lies and exaggeration by a group of so-called, "ufologists" who ignore other areas of Puerto Rico to promote tourism in Lajas. That was evident when my wife and my daughter confronted a terrifying experience in the town of Aguada with extraterrestrials and that group of charlatans refused our plea for help. Of course, if it happened in Lajas they would have jumped on the opportunity for fame and tourism for that town. Those hoaxes and lies were approved and sanctioned by the then mayor of that town who named route 303 "The extraterrestrial route". The idea of building an "UFOport" (ovnipuerto), “la llorona sightings" and the biggest hoax of them all, "that a UFO crashed there" all this could only be found in a science fiction novel.

The dancing alien

The back of United States Quarters depicting Puerto Rico

About me

Ufologist, criminal investigator, musician, artist and writer.

I worked 20 years for the New York City Department of Correction. First as a Correction Officer for 4 years, Captain for 12 years, and as a Deputy Warden for 4 years. As a law enforcement officer and supervisor, I have conducted countless of criminal investigations, some for unimaginable allegations.

On June of 2005, after my retirement, I moved to Puerto Rico with my family where my wife and my daughter faced extraordinary experiences with extraterrestrials. These alien encounters, subsequent abductions of my wife and the lack of help from so-called, "ufologists" here on the island, prompted me to become involved in the field of ufology and in the need to help others who have had similar experiences.
