The island of Puerto Rico: A hotbed of UFO sightings and alien abductions?

Written by Nelson C. Rivera (PRUFON)

Welcome to our site.

Puerto Rico is an island, which contains beautiful beaches and it is called "The Enchanted Isle", but it is actually a hotbed of UFO sightings and alien abduction experiences. The island has been a U.S. territory for over 115 years and its inhabitants are American citizens. As such, there are many U.S. military installations throughout the island. Most UFO sightings and alien abductions occur near these installations and U.S. government owned lands. One of the most notable places is "El Yunque Rainforest" which lies on the east coast of the island. El Yunque is the only tropical rainforest in the United States National Forest System. Could there be an extraterrestrial base in El Yunque rainforest? Well, many Puerto Rican and U.S. ufologists think there is.

El Yunque rainforest is a tourist attraction, where they come from all over the world to witness the exotic vegetation and flora and fauna. Although there is no vicious wild animal they should worry about, there are in fact many UFO sightings and alien abductions. This rainforest is where many tourists get lost for days and come back with incredible stories of alien abductions.

The first chupacabra sightings occurred in municipalities surrounding El Yunque rainforest. Could the chupacabra be an experiment gone wrong and then escaped from a U.S. experimental facility in the rainforest? Although this writer, along with most ufologists, believe that this creature is an extraterrestrial beast, some investigators on the island believe that it is only an experiment gone wrong by the U.S. government and NOT an extraterrestrial.

EL Yunque is also the oldest Forest Reserve in the Western Hemisphere. In 1876 King Alfonso XII of Spain set aside 12,000 cuerdas (1 cuerda =.9 acres of land) to be protected for all times.

Puerto Rico is one of the three points of the Bermuda Triangle and is where the chupacabra sightings originated which eventually spread around the world. Moreover, the island is also home to the largest radio telescope in the world. But the reason why these events are occurring is also because of location. The island is almost isolated from the rest of the Caribbean, being the easternmost of the Greater Antilles islands, sticking out into the Atlantic Ocean. This strategic location is one of the reasons why the United States has kept military bases on the island for so long.

The Puerto Rico Trench, which lies along the northern coast of the island, is the deepest part of the Atlantic Ocean and this could be the reason why there are many USOs (Unidentified Submerged Objects) observed entering and exiting the water by many people around the island and by tourists along the beautiful beaches. Could there also be an extraterrestrial base somewhere in the Atlantic Ocean and/or deep inside the Puerto Rico Trench?

The Bermuda Triangle, where many ships and planes have disappeared over the years, covers a large span of the Atlantic Ocean and Puerto Rico being the southernmost point of the Bermuda Triangle has experienced one of the most frequent UFO sightings and alien abductions in the world despite being a small island.

Sometime in the late seventies, while studying at the University in Puerto Rico, my friends and I went to the beach in the town of Luquillo, which is located near El Yunque Rainforest, and there at night we spotted three copper colored metalic looking disk above the sky. We were amazed at the perfect presicion in which the moved super effortless speed in angles across the sky, and in perfect formation. At some point all the of these flying copper dics, just stopped in mid-air as though they observing us. I and my two friends were both shocked and amazed at what we were witnessing, and unable to move from where we all stood out of pure fear, and panic. But then suddenly before we were able to react, they simultaneously, and with inexplicable speed, sped off and disappeared! Needless to say I don't recall my friends and I, talking about the incident ever again. - But a few years back I did run into my old friend Carlos who was with me that night, and I asked if he remembered, what we encountered in Luquillo beach many years ago? And he sheepishly, almost wispering told me that indeed he did remember, and it's an experience he can never forget and as an outcome it had changed his perspective on many things in his life! - I must admit, the encounter had changed me too!

In the early morning hours of August 13, 2013, I was sitting on the rooftop at Brisas del Mar in Luquillo with a friend watching the Persied meteor shower. At around 4:20 AM, we are looking up at the sky towards the east when directly up ahead we see lights moving in a downwards spiral-like pattern, coming down and stopping. We knew it wasn't an airplane by the way it stopped and the speed it picked up. We are frozen, for an instant they seem to be looking at us, like time was frozen. Then the lights shoot across the sky and seem to disappear. The environment feels cold, I couldn't move and everything took on a brownish, grayish color. We are trying to relax when suddenly we see it again, directly northeast, near La Selva beach - this is a natural reserve on the skirts of El Yunque Rainforest. Suddenly it propelled itself up in the clouds using a vortex like force. it was actually curving back towards El Yunque, at that moment i see the flying saucer, with the windows lit up in yellow blue and green. It circled up and disappeared towards the mountain. About 30-45 minutes later, my husband comes up and as we are telling him about what happened, we see what appears to be the same lights going back down towards the beach.

Lajas

Although there have been many unexplained sightings in the town of Lajas, the situation there has been hyped by the amount of lies and exaggeration by a group of so-called, "ufologists" who ignore other areas of Puerto Rico to promote tourism in Lajas. That was evident when my wife and my daughter confronted a terrifying experience in the town of Aguada with extraterrestrials and that group of charlatans refused our plea for help. Of course, if it happened in Lajas they would have jumped on the opportunity for fame and tourism for that town. Those hoaxes and lies were approved and sanctioned by the then mayor of that town who named route 303 "The extraterrestrial route". The idea of building an "UFOport" (ovnipuerto), “la llorona sightings" and the biggest hoax of them all, "that a UFO crashed there" all this could only be found in a science fiction novel.

The dancing alien

The back of United States Quarters depicting Puerto Rico

About me

Ufologist, criminal investigator, musician, artist and writer.

I worked 20 years for the New York City Department of Correction. First as a Correction Officer for 4 years, Captain for 12 years, and as a Deputy Warden for 4 years. As a law enforcement officer and supervisor, I have conducted countless of criminal investigations, some for unimaginable allegations.

On June of 2005, after my retirement, I moved to Puerto Rico with my family where my wife and my daughter faced extraordinary experiences with extraterrestrials. These alien encounters, subsequent abductions of my wife and the lack of help from so-called, "ufologists" here on the island, prompted me to become involved in the field of ufology and in the need to help others who have had similar experiences.
